Discussion & Heart Check Questions

Small group discussion questions and accountability tools designed to help disciples grow in their love for God, connect with others, serve others, and share the gospel.

These questions were created to accompany the Mission & Messages reading plan, but they can also be used by any small group, discipleship group, family, or individual studying these passages.

This Set’s Big Idea

Jesus will judge evil, reign victorious, make all things new, and dwell forever with His people.

As you read, watch how Revelation moves from the fall of Babylon to the victory of Christ, the final judgment, the new heaven and new earth, and the invitation to come to Jesus.

How to Use These Questions

These questions are a guide, not a script. You do not need to answer every question. The goal is to help your group engage Scripture, encourage one another, and take a clear next step of obedience.

Before meeting, encourage everyone to complete the set’s readings and record at least one observation and one application from the passage using PETS or another preferred Bible study method.

Suggested Small Group Meeting Flow

Use this as a flexible guide for a 1–1.5 hour weekly gathering. Adjust as needed for your group.

10 minutes

Meet up, catch up, and reconnect from the week.

5 minutes

Open in prayer and ask God to use His Word.

20–30 minutes

Share PETS insights from the set’s readings. Let everyone share briefly.

15–20 minutes

Discuss selected passage questions. The facilitator should choose a few, not all.

10–15 minutes

Use a few Heart Check questions for honest accountability and encouragement.

5–10 minutes

Share prayer requests, praises, and close in prayer.

Leader Tips

  • You do not need to answer every question.
  • Choose the questions most relevant to your group.
  • Focus on application, not just information.
  • Encourage everyone to participate, but do not force anyone to share.
  • Leave enough time for prayer and honest encouragement.

Small Group Discussion Questions

Icebreaker

  1. When you think about the end of the Bible, what feelings come to mind—hope, confusion, fear, worship, curiosity, or something else?

Digging Into the Text

  1. Revelation 18 describes the fall of Babylon. What does Babylon seem to represent, and why is its fall good news for God’s people?
  2. In Revelation 19, heaven rejoices over God’s judgment and Christ’s victory. What does this chapter teach us about worship and justice?
  3. How does the picture of Jesus in Revelation 19 strengthen your confidence in Him?
  4. Revelation 20 shows the defeat of Satan and the final judgment. Why does it matter that evil does not get the final word?
  5. Revelation 21 describes God dwelling with His people and wiping away every tear. Which promise in this chapter encourages you most?
  6. Revelation 22 ends with the invitation, “Come.” How does that final invitation shape the way we read the whole book?

Leader Note

This final set is not meant to stir speculation as much as strengthen worship, hope, endurance, and faithfulness. Help your group see the main movement clearly: evil falls, Christ wins, judgment is real, God makes all things new, and Jesus invites people to come.

Love God

  1. What truth about God or Jesus led you to worship this week?
  2. How does the promise of God dwelling with His people deepen your hope?
  3. Where do you need to trust God’s justice instead of carrying bitterness, fear, or frustration yourself?

Connect with Others

  1. How can the hope of the new creation encourage someone who is grieving, tired, or discouraged?
  2. Who in your life needs to be reminded that evil, suffering, and death do not get the final word?
  3. How can this group help one another stay faithful while waiting for Christ’s return?

Serve Others

  1. If Jesus will make all things new, how should that shape the way we serve people now?
  2. What is one practical way you can bring hope, mercy, or encouragement to someone this week?

Share the Gospel

  1. How would you explain the hope of Revelation 21–22 to someone who is afraid of the future?
  2. Who is one person you can invite to “come” to Jesus this week?

Closing Challenge

Jesus will judge evil, reign victorious, make all things new, and dwell forever with His people.

Evil falls. Christ wins. Judgment is real. God makes all things new. Jesus invites people to come.

What is one step of worship, hope, endurance, repentance, or witness Jesus is calling you to take as you finish this reading journey?
