Mission & Messages Set 36 Study Resources
Companion study notes, commentary, and next-step resources for this set of readings from the Mission & Messages Discipleship Journal.
This Set’s Big Idea
God hears the prayers of His people, warns the world through judgment, and preserves His witnesses while Christ’s kingdom advances toward victory.
As you read, watch how Revelation moves from the prayers of the saints to the trumpet judgments, the witness of God’s people, the victory of Christ’s kingdom, and the dragon’s opposition to God’s people.
These notes correspond with Set 36 readings in Mission & Messages. First, use MTSM’s Pray, Read, Ask, and Pray method to study the passage devotionally. After you finish, use these notes to deepen your understanding if you’d like.
Revelation 8–12 shows that God is not silent while evil continues in the world. The prayers of the saints rise before Him, trumpet judgments warn the earth, God’s witnesses testify, and heaven announces that the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of Christ. At the same time, these chapters pull back the curtain to show the spiritual conflict behind history as the dragon opposes God, His Messiah, and His people.
As you read, pay attention to the repeated calls to repentance, the faithfulness of God’s witnesses, the certainty of Christ’s reign, and the assurance that Satan’s rage is real but limited. Revelation reminds us that even in conflict and judgment, God hears, reigns, preserves, and will bring His kingdom to completion.
