Mission and Messages Set 35 Study Resources

Mission & Messages Set 35 Study Resources

Companion study notes, commentary, and next-step resources for this set of readings from the Mission & Messages Discipleship Journal.

This Set’s Big Idea

Jesus calls His church to faithful endurance, true worship, and confident hope because the throne of heaven is occupied and the Lamb is worthy.

As you read, watch how Revelation moves from Jesus’ words to His churches, to the throne room of heaven, to the Lamb who alone is worthy, and to the assurance that God will preserve His people through judgment.

These notes correspond with Set 35 readings in Mission & Messages. First, use MTSM’s Pray, Read, Ask, and Pray method to study the passage devotionally. After you finish, use these notes to deepen your understanding if you’d like.

Revelation 3–7 begins with Jesus addressing His churches with both correction and promise. He calls His people away from spiritual deadness, compromise, and lukewarm faith, and invites them to conquer by listening and responding to His Word. Then John is taken into heaven where he sees the throne of God, the worship of heaven, and the Lamb who was slain and is worthy to open the scroll.

As the seals are opened, Revelation shows that judgment is real, suffering is not ignored, and God remains sovereign over history. Yet even in the middle of judgment, God marks and preserves His people. The redeemed from every nation stand before the throne and the Lamb, clothed in white, worshiping God for salvation. These chapters remind us that the church can endure because Christ reigns, the Lamb is worthy, and God will bring His people safely home.
