Icebreaker

  1. Have you ever tried to build or fix something and realized the foundation mattered more than you expected?

Digging Into the Text

  1. In Matthew 5:33–48, Jesus teaches truthfulness, generous love, and love for enemies. Which of these teachings feels most challenging, and why?
  2. Jesus tells His disciples to love their enemies and pray for those who persecute them. What does this reveal about the heart of the Father?
  3. In Matthew 6:1–18, Jesus warns against practicing righteousness to be seen by others. Why is hidden devotion so important in the Christian life?
  4. What does the Lord’s Prayer teach us about our relationship with God, our daily dependence, and our need for forgiveness?
  5. Jesus says we cannot serve both God and money. What are some ways treasure can quietly capture the heart?

Leader Note

Matthew 5:33–7:29 brings the Sermon on the Mount to its conclusion. Jesus is not describing a casual or superficial faith. He calls His disciples to sincere devotion before God, generous love toward others, undivided trust in the Father, humble discernment, and obedient faith that builds life on His words.

  2. What has been competing for your trust, attention, or treasure this week?
  3. How does knowing your Father sees, knows, and provides strengthen your faith?

Connect with Others

The Sermon on the Mount ends with a clear question: will we merely hear Jesus’ words, or will we build our lives on them?
