A Quick Answer

Will dinosaurs be on the New Earth? The Bible doesn’t say explicitly, “Dinosaurs will be there,” but it clearly teaches that God will make a real, physical New Earth, free from death and the curse, filled with restored creation. Animals are part of that picture, and extinction is a result of the Fall—not God’s original design. So while we can’t be dogmatic, there is a strong biblical reason to think God may joyfully restore some extinct creatures, including dinosaurs, as part of His renewed world. Still, dinosaurs are not the center of our hope—Jesus is. The greatest joy of the New Earth is not seeing dinosaurs again, but seeing Christ face-to-face.

A Simple Explanation

All through this series we’ve asked big questions about dinosaurs and the Bible—creation, the Fall, the Flood, fossils, dragon legends, and the gospel. Now we land on a childlike, hopeful question: “Will dinosaurs be on the New Earth?”

First, Scripture says the future isn’t about floating on clouds. God will remake a real, physical world:

  • Believers will have resurrected bodies (1 Cor. 15:42–44).
  • Christ rose bodily as the firstfruits (1 Cor. 15:20).
  • God will create a New Heaven and New Earth (Revelation 21:1).
  • Creation itself will be set free from corruption (Romans 8:21).

The final destination is not “heaven up there,” but a renewed Earth where God dwells with His people.

Second, the Bible strongly implies there will be animals there. Isaiah’s kingdom pictures show wolves, lambs, lions, cows, snakes, and bears living at peace (Isaiah 11:6–9; 65:25). Animals were part of the world God called “very good,” and God cares for them (Psalm 104:24–28). It makes sense that they’ll be part of the restored world too.

What about extinct animals? The Bible doesn’t list them, but the logic of new creation is hopeful. Extinction is part of the curse, and Jesus came to undo the curse (Romans 8:19–22; 1 Cor. 15:26). Revelation 21:5 says, “I am making all things new”—not “I am making all new things.” That leaves room to think God could joyfully restore creatures we’ve only ever seen as bones in a museum.

So will dinosaurs be there? We can’t say with certainty, but:

  • God called them “very good” in His original creation.
  • Their extinction is tied to a fallen, cursed world, not God’s design.
  • The New Earth will showcase His glory and creativity in full.

It is biblically reasonable—and joyfully exciting—to think God may restore some of these incredible creatures in the world to come.

But in the end, dinosaurs aren’t the main point. The New Earth is about seeing Jesus, living with Him forever, and enjoying a world finally free from sin, death, and sorrow. Dinosaurs may be part of that joy—but He is the center of it.

Introduction: A Joyful Question

If you’ve followed this series from the beginning, we’ve walked together through some big questions:

  • Did God create dinosaurs?
  • Were they good?
  • Were they on the Ark?
  • What happened to them after the Flood?
  • Are dinosaurs in the Bible?
  • Do dragon legends reflect real memories?
  • Do fossils support the Flood?
  • Why do dinosaurs matter for the gospel?

Now, after exploring creation, the Fall, the Flood, and redemption, we reach a question that isn’t scientific, apologetic, or even controversial.

It’s a joyful question. A hopeful question. A childlike question.

Will dinosaurs be on the New Earth?

Let’s walk through Scripture and see what it reveals.

1. The New Earth Will Be a Real, Physical, Restored Creation

When people imagine heaven, they often picture clouds, halos, and disembodied spirits floating around forever. But that’s not the Bible’s picture at all.

Scripture teaches:

  • believers will have real, physical, resurrected bodies (1 Cor. 15:42–44),
  • Christ Himself rose bodily and is the firstfruits of our resurrection (1 Cor. 15:20),
  • God will make a New Heaven and New Earth (Revelation 21:1),
  • creation itself will be set free from corruption (Romans 8:21).

Heaven is not the final state—the New Earth is.

Meaning: God is not abandoning His creation. He is redeeming it. Restoring it. Making all things new (Revelation 21:5).

If the future is a restored version of God’s original creation, then the next question naturally follows…

2. Will There Be Animals in the New Earth?

Yes—Scripture strongly indicates this.

Isaiah’s Kingdom passages describe:

  • wolves,
  • lambs,
  • lions,
  • cows,
  • snakes,
  • bears,
  • and even formerly dangerous creatures living in peace (Isaiah 11:6–9; 65:25).

While Isaiah’s imagery ultimately points to Christ’s reign, the picture is physical, earthly, and deeply rooted in creation language. God included animals in the world He originally called “very good.” There is no reason to assume they will be absent in the restored world.

In fact:

  • animals were created before the Fall,
  • their existence is not sinful,
  • they reflect God’s creativity and beauty,
  • they appear in prophetic descriptions of restoration,
  • and God declares He cares for them (Psalm 104:24–28).

The New Earth will be a world bursting with life— including animals.

But what about extinct creatures?

3. Will Extinct Animals Return?

Here, the Bible is less specific—but the theological logic is strong.

If God is restoring all creation, not simply preserving a damaged version of it, then the New Earth is not merely Eden rebuilt…

…it is Eden restored and expanded.

Think about the wording:

“Behold, I am making all things new.” — Revelation 21:5

God does not say, “I am making all new things.”

He says He is making all things new— restoring them to their intended glory.

Extinction is a symptom of the Curse. Death is an enemy Christ will destroy (1 Cor. 15:26). Creation “groans” under corruption and waits for “the revealing of the sons of God” (Romans 8:19–22).

If extinction is part of the curse, and the curse will be removed, it is reasonable—and joyful—to conclude:

God may restore creatures now lost to us.

The New Earth won’t be empty of the wonders God originally made. It will be full of them—unbroken and unharmed by sin.

That brings us to the question our kids (and adults like me) ask most:

4. So… Will Dinosaurs Be There?

The Bible does not explicitly say, “Dinosaurs will be on the New Earth.”

But based on Scripture’s teaching, we can say confidently:

They could be. And there is a strong biblical reason to think they may be.

Why?

  • God called dinosaurs “very good.”
  • They were part of His original creation.
  • Their extinction is connected to the Curse, not His design.
  • The New Earth restores what sin broke.
  • God delights in His creatures (Psalm 104).
  • The future world is full of peace among once-dangerous animals (Isa. 11:6–9).
  • God’s glory is displayed through the diversity of His creation.

If the New Earth is the world as God always intended— free from death, pain, fear, or corruption— why would He not include some of His most spectacular creatures?

Imagine:

  • sauropods grazing peacefully,
  • pterosaurs gliding across restored skies,
  • leviathan-like sea creatures swimming without fear,
  • the majesty of God’s creativity on full display.

Not terrifying. Not predatory. Not cursed.

Just as they were originally meant to be: magnificent creatures in a world without death.

Will every extinct creature return? We don’t know.

But could God restore some as a display of His glory in the new creation? Absolutely.

And if our Father gave us a world filled with these incredible creatures once, there is no reason He could not do it again.

5. Dinosaurs Aren’t the Point—Jesus Is

As joyful as this question is, we must remember something even better:

Dinosaurs aren’t the hero or focus of history. Jesus is.

The New Earth is not about seeing dinosaurs again. It is about seeing Christ, dwelling with Him, and experiencing a world completely free from the curse He came to overturn.

Dinosaurs are a gift. Jesus is the Giver.

Dinosaurs display God’s creativity. Jesus displays God’s salvation.

Dinosaurs are part of the story. Jesus is the center of the story.

When God restores creation, it will be glorious— not because of the creatures in it, but because of the King who reigns over it.

Final Word: The Story Isn’t Really About Dinosaurs—It’s About Hope

The Jurassic Truth series wasn’t ultimately about dinosaurs. It was about:

  • the trustworthiness of Scripture,
  • the reality of God’s judgment,
  • the joy of His salvation,
  • the hope of resurrection,
  • and the promise of a restored creation.

Dinosaurs are one of the many ways God shows us His power, beauty, and creativity. And the possibility of seeing restored creatures in the New Earth only deepens our worship.

But the real joy—the ultimate joy—is this:

“We will see His face.” — Revelation 22:4
