Devotional
In Mark 2:1-12, Jesus not only heals the paralyzed man but also forgives his sins, demonstrating His divine authority. This act astonishes those present and reveals that He is God Himself, by referring to Himself as the Son of Man, and has the power to forgive sins and heal. Recognizing Jesus’ authority in our lives is crucial. It reminds us that He is in control and that we can trust Him with our deepest needs and concerns. His rule is eternal, and His kingdom will never be destroyed.
Bible Verse
“As my vision continued that night, I saw someone like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient One and was led into his presence. 14 He was given authority, honor, and sovereignty over all the nations of the world, so that people of every race and nation and language would obey him. His rule is eternal—it will never end. His kingdom will never be destroyed.” – Daniel 7:13-14
Reflection Question
How can you acknowledge and submit to Jesus’ authority in your life today?
Quote from Sermon
The scribes are right in their theology, only God can forgive sins. But they’re missing who is standing right there in front of them. It’s God himself.
Prayer
Lord, I acknowledge Your authority in my life. Help me to trust in Your power to forgive and heal, and to submit to Your will in all things. Amen.
