Jonah is more than a story about a prophet and a great fish. It is a story about God’s compassion, human rebellion, repentance, obedience, and the surprising reach of God’s mercy.
As you work through Jonah 1–4, pay attention to what the text reveals about God, Jonah, the sailors, and the people of Nineveh. Notice repeated words and ideas, surprising responses, important contrasts, and questions the story raises. Most importantly, allow Scripture to speak before turning to the resources below for additional help.
