This Week’s Big Idea
Jesus is the suffering King who calls His followers to deny themselves, trust Him, serve others, and live under His authority.
As you read, watch how Jesus moves toward the cross, redefines greatness, welcomes the humble, confronts religious hypocrisy, and teaches His disciples what true faith and kingdom life look like.

This set follows a major turning point in Mark’s Gospel. Peter confesses Jesus as the Christ, and Jesus begins teaching plainly about His suffering, death, and resurrection. As you read Mark 8–12, pay attention to how Jesus calls His disciples to take up their cross, teaches humble service, enters Jerusalem as King, confronts empty religion, and shows what wholehearted love for God and neighbor looks like.
