Main Truth:
When God forgives our sins through Jesus, He doesn’t erase His memory — He chooses not to bring our sins up again.
Scripture:
“I will forgive their wickedness, and I will remember their sins no more.”
— Jeremiah 31:34 (NLT)Check out “How Can An All-Knowing God “Forget” Our Sins?” to help you get ready for leading your family into discovering this amazing truth about the God who forgives and forgets!
🧩 Opening Activity — Play “Memory”
Grab your family’s Memory game (or make your own by writing matching words or pictures on index cards).
Spread the cards face down. Take turns flipping two cards at a time to find matching pairs.
After a few rounds, pause and ask:
- What happens when you find a match?
(We remove it or set it aside.) - What happens when you forget where a card is?
(You try again next turn!)
Say:
“When we play Memory, we’re trying to remember what we’ve seen before. But when it comes to our sins, God does the opposite — He chooses not to remember the things we’ve confessed and turned away from.”
💬 Read and Talk About It
Read Jeremiah 31:34 and Psalm 103:12 together. Then discuss:
- Does God really forget, like we do sometimes?
(No. He knows everything!) - What does it mean that He doesn’t “remember” our sins?
(It means He doesn’t hold them against us anymore.) - How do we know that’s true?
(Because Jesus took our sins on the cross so we could be forgiven.)
Explain:
“When the Bible says God ‘remembers our sins no more,’ it means He won’t bring them back up or use them against us. The record is gone because Jesus paid for it.”
❤️ Family Prayer
“God, thank You that when You forgive us, You choose not to remember our sins anymore. Help us trust Your forgiveness and show the same grace to others. Amen.”
🪧 Family Challenge
This week, when someone in your family makes a mistake and apologizes, say together:
“It’s forgiven — and forgotten.”
Let that moment remind everyone how God treats us:
He knows everything we’ve done, but through Jesus, He chooses to remember it no more.
