The Gospels Set 1 Study Resources

The Gospels Set 1 Study Resources

Companion study notes, commentary, and next-step resources for this set of readings from The Gospels Discipleship Journal.

This Set’s Big Idea

Jesus is the eternal Son of God who entered the world to bring light, salvation, and joy.

As you read, watch how God prepares the way for Jesus through His promises, His messengers, and ordinary people who respond with faith, worship, and obedience.

These notes correspond with Set 1 readings in The Gospels Discipleship Journal. First, use MTSM’s Pray, Read, Ask, and Pray method to study the passage devotionally. After you finish, use these notes to deepen your understanding if you’d like.

This set begins the journey through the Gospels by introducing Jesus as the eternal Word who became flesh and the promised Savior whose arrival was announced through God’s faithful servants. As you read John 1 and Luke 1, pay attention to who Jesus is, how God keeps His promises, and how people respond when God interrupts ordinary life with extraordinary grace.
