This devotion is based on the sermon: Pop Crazy or Kingdom Crazy
Devotional
One early morning, a man rushed to work in his car, frustrated that his windshield kept fogging up. He wiped it again and again with his sleeve, but the view remained blurry. Only after pulling over did he realize the problem wasn’t the outside—it was the inside. The defroster hadn’t been turned on. Once he turned it on, the fog cleared, and suddenly, the road ahead came into sharp focus.
In the same way, when our hearts are fogged by materialism or worldly distractions, we may keep pressing forward, blurry, frustrated, and unsure. However, spiritual clarity doesn’t come from striving harder; it comes from adjusting our inner perspective and focusing on Christ. Only then does everything else come into view: His truth, our purpose, and even how we steward our possessions. Today, consider how your perspective on wealth and possessions might be affecting your spiritual clarity.
Bible
I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. 8 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ. – Philippians 3:7-8
Reflection Question
In what ways might your view of material possessions be darkening your spiritual vision or hindering your relationship with God?
Quote
“For Jesus to be the center of our lives, He must be the center of our attention.”
Prayer
Heavenly Father, give me clear spiritual vision today. Help me see my possessions through Your eyes and use them for Your glory. Remove any darkness that clouds my perspective. Amen.
