6.24.25 – The Secret Place of Giving

This devotion is based on the sermon: Not for Likes

Devotional

Imagine giving a gift so secretly that even your left hand doesn’t know what your right hand is doing. This vivid picture Jesus paints challenges our natural desire for recognition. In a world that celebrates public philanthropy, Jesus invites us into the joy of secret giving. When we give without fanfare or recognition, we experience a special intimacy with God. Our giving becomes a sacred moment between us and our Father, untainted by the desire for human praise. This private generosity creates a beautiful trust relationship with God, knowing He alone sees and rewards our faithfulness.

Bible Verse

“But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father who sees everything will reward you.” – Matthew 6:3-4

Reflection Question

What would change about your giving if you committed to keeping it completely between you and God?

Prayer

Lord, teach me the joy of secret giving. Help me find satisfaction in Your approval alone, trusting that You see every act of generosity. Amen.
