This devotion is based on the sermon: What are we to do with the Old Testament? (Pt 2)
Devotional
Imagine trying to build a house without a foundation—it wouldn’t last long! Similarly, our Christian faith needs the solid foundation of the entire Bible, including the Old Testament. It’s not just ancient history; it’s the backstory to our faith, revealing God’s character and consistent plan of redemption. The Old Testament provides crucial context for understanding Jesus’ mission and enriches our worship. When we embrace both testaments, our faith becomes deeper and more grounded in God’s complete revelation.
Bible Verse
“The old system under the law of Moses was only a shadow, a dim preview of the good things to come, not the good things themselves.” – Hebrews 10:1
Reflection Question
How has your understanding and appreciation of the Old Testament enhanced your relationship with God and your Christian walk?
Quote
“We should see it (the Old Testament) as the foundation of the Christian story, and we should see it as scripture.”
Prayer
Father, thank you for giving us Your complete Word. Help us treasure all of Scripture and find wisdom for daily living in its pages. May we see Jesus clearly throughout Your Word. Amen.
