This devotion is based on the sermon: What are we to do with the Old Testament? (Pt 2)
Devotional
Remember those teachers who seemed strict but ultimately helped you grow? God’s law serves a similar purpose. Like a caring but firm instructor, it shows us where we fall short while pointing us toward a better way. The law wasn’t given to crush us with impossible standards, but to guide us toward our need for Christ. It’s like a mirror that shows us our true condition and then points us to the only One who can help. This understanding transforms how we view God’s commands – not as burdensome rules, but as loving guidance from a Father who knows what we need.
Bible Verse
“The law was our guardian or tutor until Christ came. It protected us until we could be made right with God through faith.” – Galatians 3:24
Reflection Question
In what ways has God’s law acted as a tutor in your life, showing you areas where you need Christ’s help and transformation?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for loving us enough to show us our need for You. Help us embrace Your law as guidance while trusting in Christ’s perfect righteousness. Amen.
