This blog post summarizes the sermon: What are we to do with the Old Testament? (Pt 1)
Devotional
Where we fail, Jesus succeeded perfectly. He lived a sinless life, fulfilling every aspect of God’s law – not just in letter, but in spirit. His perfect obedience wasn’t just an example for us; it was the means of our salvation. Jesus paid our debt through His sacrifice and made a way for us to be right with God. Now, we can live in freedom, not trying to earn God’s favor through rule-keeping, but responding to His grace with grateful obedience.
Bible Verse
“And God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law.” – Galatians 4:4
Reflection Question
How does knowing that Christ perfectly fulfilled the law on your behalf change how you approach obedience to God?
Quote
Part of Jesus, fulfilling or bringing to pass the law of Moses, the writings of the prophets, is that he offered Himself as the once and for all perfect sacrifice to cover the debt of our sin payment to a holy God.
Prayer
Thank You, Jesus, for fulfilling the law perfectly on my behalf. Help me live in the freedom of Your grace while honoring You with my obedience. Amen.
