Day 4: Love: The Heart of God’s Law

This blog post summarizes the sermon: What are we to do with the Old Testament? (Pt 1)

Pastor’s Sermon Notes

Devotional

At its core, God’s law is about love, love for Him and love for others. We miss the heart behind God’s commands when we focus solely on rules and regulations. Jesus simplified all the law into two great commandments: love God with everything you are, and love your neighbor as yourself. When we live from this foundation of love, we naturally fulfill the spirit of God’s law.

Bible

“You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.” – Matthew 22:37-40

Reflection Question

How might your relationships with God and others change if you focused more on love than on rules?

Prayer

Father, fill my heart with Your love so it overflows to everyone around me. Help me see Your commands as expressions of love rather than burdensome rules. Amen.
