Day 1: The Heart of Worship

Scripture Reading

Psalm 103:1-5

Devotional

In Luke 7:36-50, we see a woman who, despite her sinful reputation, approaches Jesus with an unashamed and intense love. She anoints His feet with perfume, an act of deep worship and gratitude. This woman challenges us to worship Jesus with all that we are, whether it’s face down, at the altar, hands held high, or through confession of sin in our private life. Her actions remind us that true worship comes from a heart that recognizes the depth of forgiveness received. This recognition leads us to a place of free and intimate worship regardless of what others might think.

Bible Verse

‘Let all that I am praise the Lord;
    with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.’ – Psalm 103:1

Reflection Question

What keeps you from freely worshiping Jesus when you gather with other believers?

What keeps you from worshiping at the altar, with raised hands in your seat, sitting in silence, etc?

How might grasping the depths from the sin which you have been rescued allow you to experience deeper depths of freedom in your worship among others?

Quote from Sermon

“This woman challenges us to worship Jesus with all that we are, with our entire beings, whether it’s face down, whether it’s at the altar, whether it’s hands held high, whether it’s confession of sin in our private life.”

Prayer

Lord, help me to worship You with all my heart, recognizing the depth of forgiveness You have given me. May my actions and words be pleasing to You. Amen.
